Celebrating 3 Years of the Forever Young Podcast!

On this Forever Young podcast, we celebrated three amazing years of podcasting. We have spent three years with Christiana and Cherrie, exploring amazing topics and deep-diving into conversations. It has been quite the journey, hasn't it? Listen to the full episode below or keep reading as we recap the last three years and plan for what’s ahead!

The Forever Young podcast has aimed to enlighten and help people prevent chronic illness by improving their lifestyle. We've covered some incredible ground, from the emotional depths of grief to the intriguing world of gut microbiome. We also discussed topics like the importance of sleep and nurturing creativity. The episode on Sleep was a special episode because it taught us how important it is to rest. We all need a maximum of 7 hours of sleep, sometimes more depending on your age. This episode taught us how getting a good night's sleep can improve our mood, and health and also help us stay young!

The variety of topics that we've explored, has not only enriched our understanding but has hopefully also made an impact a positive impact on our listeners’ lives.

We uncovered the root of procrastination, practicing mindfulness, and the importance of movement and exercise, which all help us stay healthy and young.

A huge focus of the Forever Young podcast has been mindful movement and exercise, and how there are many ways our seasoned listeners and readers can incorporate it into their lives. A nature walk, gardening, going to a workout class, yoga, or even a sport like basketball are all ways we can improve our physical and mental health at any age! From Burnout to The Five Love Languages, Resilience, Loneliness, Social Connection, Self Love, and Blue Zones, we can all try to apply the principles from all of those episodes. Self-care is the best gift that we can give to ourselves for our mental, physical, emotional, social, psychological, and spiritual well-being. Christiana and Cherrie shared that creating their podcasts gives them the presence of mind to practice what they preach. We learned from the episode on Self-care that we need to "put our own oxygen mask on before we help others" and especially when we feel burnt out, it is important to take a break or ask for help as it helps us show up better for our friends, family and community. We learned self-care is not selfish but an act of service to ourselves and also others.

After three years, Christiana and Cherrie have decided to take a little break from their biweekly podcast episodes. While this is not a goodbye and merely a see you later, we are sad to see them step away for a while but we are proud of what is coming ahead for both of them! Cherrie will be focusing more on ALS Double Play, spending more quality time with loved ones, and simply recharging. Christiana recently introduced her newly founded charitable organization that focuses on the needs of the underserved communities of black, indigenous, and people of color facing the challenges of dementia. She has also set out to work on a huge dementia awareness campaign in her home country of Nigeria. Dementia is a journey and it is a global epidemic that is growing rapidly. By the year 2030, the Alzheimer's Society of Canada is predicting that a million Canadians will be diagnosed with dementia. This also means we will be in need of more caregivers, which can lead to more caregiver burnout. We need to keep advocating for more resources for our caregivers and ensure they are getting the necessary help they need for themselves, in order to help others!

While Christiana and Cherrie take their much-needed break, we have a huge archive of episodes you can listen to and read on our blog for practical tips, inspiration, and intellectual stimulation.
