Dan Pink is an author of seven books, including his latest book that is about to be released called “The Power of Regret”, which discusses how looking backward moves us forward.  Some of his other books include New York Times bestsellers, "When", "A Whole New Mind" and also "To Sell Is Human". His books have won multiple awards and have been translated into multiple languages. His writing style is really easy, and the content he writes about is really interesting, and it might even be something that our listeners and readers may be interested in as well! He recently came across a super quick way to set New Year's Resolutions and we thought it would be fun to share a little bit about it.

Setting realistic, smaller goals will help motivate you towards achieving your ultimate goal.

Dan Pink has 7 steps in making New Year's resolutions! Check out the short video (which is only two minutes long) to discover these steps. Do you think we could try implementing Dan Pink's 7 Steps to New Year's Resolutions this year?

The reason a lot of people may give up on making New Year Resolutions is that they are sometimes not sustainable. You might pledge to be more active in the new year, but by the second week of January, you've fallen off the wagon. However, as with anything in life, if you keep failing at something then it is time to do it differently! Then perhaps Mr. Pink can teach our listeners and us how to make a successful New Year's resolution.

You can listen to our podcast episode to hear more about these steps from Christiana and Cherrie:

A key component of keeping your resolutions is tracking your progress. Setting realistic, smaller goals will help motivate you towards achieving your ultimate goal, whatever that may be. One resolution and goal at a time is all we need to do. It's because you are more likely to be successful at one if you focus on it. Don't you think? By focusing on one thing, you make it very simple for yourself. Having friends or family support you and keeping them informed about what you're doing can help you stay on track with your new year's resolutions.

You can always make yourself a resolution to take care of yourself. Especially for those in caregiving, it is hard to take that time for ourselves without feeling guilty. However, try to take a little bit more time for yourself when you can. Finding that time for yourself, and caring for yourself can ultimately help you better care for others.  Self-care can also come in the form of getting enough sleep, eating healthy, or even exercising. You need to take care of yourself if you want to feel your best. If you don't know what to do for self-care, think of the things you enjoy when you're not caring for others. Maybe this will inspire you to think about how you might want to spend your time caring for yourself in 2022!

Do you think that this is a really easy way to focus our New Year's resolution-making? Breaking it down and picking one thing at a time, and also giving yourself time to achieve your goals in a realistic way can definitely help. We wish that we all will grow in good health in 2022! Although this pandemic has brought us uncertainty, it has also brought us more time for self-improvement and self-care. We hope we will be able to get back into a sense of normalcy soon, and that we will be able to make successful New Years’ Resolutions in this year to come!
