Happy New Year to all our readers and listeners! On our most recent Forever Young Podcast we celebrated the first podcast episode for the year and started the year off with goal-setting! Listen to the full podcast episode on Spotify below:

Setting goals is something we can all implement in our everyday lives, whether we are in school, working, or retired. The new year can be a great time to reset our lives in order to be more productive and healthy. What we love about the new year is the hopefulness the brand new year can bring! An unblemished calendar, a new page, and a fresh start!

Let's talk about how we are going to help ourselves and our listeners achieve our goals in 2023. We can definitely set goals to help achieve our personal and professional goals.

The first thing is to make sure to write down the goals you wish to achieve this year. Whether they may be personal or professional goals, write them down and make sure to put them in a place where you will see them. In order for you to be successful in reaching your goals, you will need to refer to them throughout the year. You can also say your goals out loud which will further help you visualize them and help them come to fruition.

Make sure your goals are simple, clear, and attainable. Most importantly, make sure your goals are measurable and you are able to track your progress over time! It can sometimes be hard to follow through with new year's resolutions because they can be unrealistic and unattainable. Instead of setting a goal of achieving a 6-pack or abs, try to set a goal of creating a habit of going to the gym or completing a set number of workouts each week. Remember that when it comes to goal setting, mindset is everything. The mind is where we lose or win battles.

Another fun way to help achieve your goals is by designing them so that they can be accomplished with a partner. This may be including a parent or friend in your fitness goals for the year, or even holding each other accountable for staying away from bad habits. It is always fun to achieve goals with a partner and it will also help you stay on top of your goals and be held accountable.

You can also ask your accountability partner for feedback. Be open-minded and don't take any negative feedback or push you off the cliff. Just listen and make the necessary adjustments. Always ask for help when needed and always be a helping hand to those who need it!

Lastly, take the time to evaluate your goals over time. Check-in and see how you are doing, and how these goals are working out. A few months into setting these goals you may realize some are unattainable due to your schedule or even physical ability. It is important to be realistic and honest with yourself as well!

Don’t forget to reward yourself as you go! Goal-setting does not need to be serious and boring, and it can be made fun! So treat yourself to that movie night, massage, or cheat meal you've been waiting to have! And don’t forget to celebrate yourself!

If you do not consider yourself a goal-setting type of person, try to set some goals for yourself in order to achieve some level of personal or professional progress. They do not need to be complicated or long but do make sure the goals you set for this year are true to yourself. We wish you all and your loved ones a very blessed, healthy, and happy 2023!
